Rule 28
Let’s discuss advice #6. Anything that impairs your ability to control what’s going on has got to go. It’s not negotiable. It doesn't matter if everyone around you at home or work is doing it. Your path is different.
#8 – you should observe this at every stage of the game. Work is all about fitting in, not necessarily your skills. Honestly. I have never been fired from a job because I couldn't do the work. It was always because I was perceived to not be a fit with the team. From the time of the interview to your last day on the job, find out what their corporate culture is, and do your best to appear to fit in with it.
#9 – take the job offer that presents itself to you. Don't turn it down hoping for a better one to materialize; it may never do so. Take the position that they offer, and if you do get a better offer, simply give notice and take the new job. It may not be easy, but it’s The Rules thing to do.
